In conversations about various negative situations that people living in Azerbaijan often encounter, for example, the low quality of education or health care, any service, official arbitrariness, bribery, corruption, arrest of innocent people, fake trial with false accusations, real prison and other such incidents. For 20-25 years, I have been hearing thoughts such as “You need to endure a little more”, “All this negativity will disappear with time”.
On Facebook and in real-life discussions, such people justify their positions with various arguments. “Everything needs time”, “Market economy, market relations will fix everything”, “We have been a province of Russia for 150 years, we are rebuilding our independent statehood”, “Democracy was not established suddenly in democratic countries” and other similar arguments. . 20-25 years ago, they used to say, “They have eaten their fill, and the new arrivals will start (eating) again”, but now they don’t say that anymore. Suddenly, someone is found, and for such a white lie, he puts a fat cap on his head and slaps him:
Are you putting me in my place? Have they eaten their fill, son of a bitch, or have their appetites increased over time and become even hungrier?
Other gripes are similarly false.
30 years is not a long time in historical terms, yes. But why Georgia and Ukraine were able to establish a state during these 30 years, which you consider a short time, but not Azerbaijan? Why are we getting worse? Not to mention the three Baltic republics, not to mention Atatürk – Mustafa Kemal Pasha was able to establish a republic in the place of the decaying Ottoman Empire in 1923-1938 and implemented reforms. Why only 15 years was enough for him, and oil and gas revenues are less than 30 years?
There are many “whys”, which one do you think? Is it possible to tell such a lie?
Why do people think that if you don’t work, if you don’t make an effort, the empty fridge in the kitchen will fill up by itself over time? If you don’t put money in an empty wallet, it can slowly fill itself?!
