Ouagadougou: A driver and his accomplice steal 170 million FCFA from his boss

Ouagadougou, 21 Nov. 2023(AIB)-A driver and his accomplice stole his boss’s 170 million FCFA in early May, after violently attacking him. Subsequently, they invested in real estate and commerce, before the Ouagadougou territorial gendarmerie brigade got their hands on them last October, the AIB learned.

A driver informed his friend that his boss often kept large sums of money at home, located in sector 3 of the city of Ouagadougou. Together, they will come up with a plan to attack him.

According to the national gendarmerie which relates the facts, the driver drove his boss’s daughter to school early in the morning of May 5, 2023, accompanied by his wife.

His accomplice, alerted that he will be alone, rings the doorbell and introduces himself as a man investigating an arms cache case, adds the gendarmerie.

After finding a bag containing a large sum of money, he took out a hammer and knocked his victim out with a violent blow to the head.

Bathed in his blood, the boss managed to contact his driver to take him to the hospital.

According to the gendarmerie, on the evening of May 5 the two alleged accomplices did the counting and found 170 million FCFA.

The driver receives 72 million and his friend 98 million.

According to the gendarmerie, the two accomplices will immediately start investing and buying valuable things.

There is notably a villa, a celibaterium, a courtyard under construction, three subdivided plots, a plot outside the subdivision, and a five-hectare vacant lot outside the subdivision.

In addition to the capital goods, they also purchased a Mercedes sedan vehicle, model C300 4 MATIC and opened two shops selling wheeled vehicles in Korsimoro and Ouagadougou (54 mopeds currently in stock).

While the alleged thieves were investing, the complaint filed by the victim on May 30, 2023 with the Ouagadougou territorial gendarmerie will be concluded in October.

The attacker was arrested on October 18 and the driver on October 21, 2023.

The Faso Prosecutor at the TGI of Ouaga I notified them of the following charges: armed assault; willful assault and battery; theft of cash; conspiracy ; usurpation of title.
