A car driver who caused moderate bodily injury to a 78-year-old woman from Karlovo received a 6-month suspended sentence. The man pleaded guilty before the District Court in the City of Levski and entered into an agreement with the prosecutor’s office.

On August 29 around 7:30 a.m., the district office in Karlovo received a report of an incident at the intersection between “Teofan Rainov” and “Alexander Stamboliyski” streets. The elderly woman was crossing a pedestrian path, a car coming towards her with a 46-year-old driver did not stop and hit her. The victim was left under medical observation at the hospital.

As a result of the accident, the 78-year-old woman from Karlovna received moderate physical damage, resulting in crushing of the soft tissues of the left lower leg with a fracture of the 4th and 5th anterior bones. This led to permanent difficulty in leg movement.

The six months of the driver’s probation are with a 3-year probationary period. He must also pay BGN 912.60 for the examinations performed during the case.

The decision by which the District Court in Karlovo approved the agreement is final and not subject to appeal or protest.
