The District Court in Vratsa decided today, following a request from the prosecutor’s office, that 28-year-old V.I. should remain permanently in custody until the investigation against him is completed. Charges have been brought against him that he created a drug laboratory in the apartment where he lives for rent and kept high-risk narcotic substances for the purpose of distribution. There were found 43 polyethylene bags containing dry leaf mass, which reacted to ketamine in a field drug test.
The court accepted that all the prerequisites required by law for taking the most serious measure of procedural coercion, detention in custody, were present against the accused V.I. The crime for which he was charged is punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to eight years and with a fine of BGN 5,000 to BGN 20,000.
The court also accepted that there is a real and not a hypothetical danger that he will commit a crime. The accused has bad characteristics. He was convicted, and the current crime that VI is accused of was committed while on probation for a previous conviction for human trafficking.
