A family converts a “double-decker” bus to live there

by time news

From the yurt to the container house, via the geoship or the Tiny house, alternative housing is on the rise; and those who convert to it do not lack imagination! Maurad, Anne and their two children are a shining example of this: this family from Montpellier has decided to build their future home… in an old double-decker school bus.

A long-term renovation

“Basically, we were looking for a house that was a little different,” remembers Maurad. We consulted ads for containers, other atypical houses and we came across the bus. We went to see him and brought him back! “. It must be said that its price was attractive: “10,000 euros was not expensive for what it will become, that is to say our house”, confirms Anne.

As a result, the whole family – well helped by friends – got their hands dirty and still spends their weekends fitting out the bus. For Maurad, “it’s a project that will take 2 or 3 years because we really want to make it a top-notch house”. A significant delay, but justified for Anne: “every time we make progress on the renovation, clearly, we are also making progress… on our vision of life! “.
