This macabre discovery took place yesterday morning, Sunday October 6, 2024, in the Daka 2 district in the urban commune of Labé. The deceased was found hanging on an orange tree planted in his yard in the early morning.

Aged around sixty, Ousmane Kanouya Diallo, as we are talking about, was the last of the first generation of the legendary Gando-Macy orchestra. A guitarist by trade, according to information, he did not suffer from any dementia. . As soon as they were informed, the security agents and the authorities were on the scene for the report. The president of the Daka district returned to this case of suicide.

“It was around 6:30 a.m., two young people from the neighborhood went to my house, they knocked on my door and I went out after they informed me that the artist Ousmane Kanouya hanged himself at his home. I informed the president of the special delegation, the central police station and we found ourselves at the scene of the suicide. We actually used a rope to hang on a tree. He is an artist from the Gando Maci group. I have known him since the 90s,” explained Elhadj Oumar Moromy Diallo, district chief of Daka 2.

For his part, Boubacar Sonko, singer of the Gando Maci group, said he was surprised by this news.

“I received a phone call from a young person who informed me that our colleague killed himself at home. It was last Thursday that I separated with the deceased, he had not discussed with anyone within our group, we also asked his neighbors they told us that he did not discuss with someone. He wasn’t sick. Last Thursday, we stayed up together at Tinkisso, it’s very sad.” testifies Boubacar Sonko.

After the assessment by the competent services, the body of the deceased is transported to the morgue of the Labé regional hospital before its burial. After the assessments, the remains were returned to the family this Monday morning around 11 a.m. Note that Ousmane Kanouya Diallo left behind two widows and six (6) children.
