A Romanian doctor who took bribes from patients was placed in preliminary arrest for a period of 30 days, the spokeswoman of the prosecutor’s office in the city of Sibiu, Michaela Ruginosu, reported today, Agerpress agency reported.

Doctor Liliana Koldya from the multi-specialty hospital in the Transylvanian city of Sibiu, who is the former manager of this medical facility, as well as of the District Hospital for Emergency Medical Care in Sibiu, took amounts between 100 and 200 lei (between 40 and 80 BGN approximately) from the patients. , announced today the first deputy prosecutor in the Sibiu court Michaela Ruginosu, BTA reported.

The doctor, who is 52 years old, was detained on September 26 on charges of committing 13 crimes of bribery. From the evidence gathered so far, it is clear that in the period June-August 2024, the accused took money and gifts from patients and their relatives in exchange for facilitating access to medical services and the performance of medical services, according to a press release from the prosecutor’s office at the court of Sibiu.
