District Prosecutor’s Office – Montana closed a case for illegal assistance to foreign citizens to cross the territory of the country for the purpose of property benefit.
On August 21, 2023, on road E-79 in the region of Montana R.R. illegally transported 13 citizens from Afghanistan. For this purpose, he used his own truck. The migrants did not have regular documents for traveling abroad and were on the territory of Bulgaria in violation of the conditions for stay and residence. Five of them were minors.
The accused R.R. pleaded guilty to the criminal act committed by him in a manner dangerous to the lives of persons.
An agreement was concluded between the District Prosecutor’s Office – Montana and his defense, which the court approved. The punishment imposed on him is 9 months of “imprisonment” with a 3-year probationary period. The court imposed a fine equal to the market value of the vehicle in the amount of BGN 9,480.
The court’s decision has the effect of a final judgment.
