A fine of Rs 1 lakh for a bank that does not refund Rs 500 Dinamalar

When withdrawing money from Dharwad-ATM, the account is deducted even though the money has not arrived. The account holder reported this to the bank officials, but due to their negligence, he had to pay the penalty.

Siddesh Hupalli, a lawyer from Dharwad, has an account with the Indian Overseas Bank of Dharwad.

On November 28, 2020, he went to an ATM to withdraw Rs 500. As there was no money in it, he withdrew money from another ATM machine nearby.

500 rupees were deducted from the account even though the ATM that I tried to withdraw the money at first did not receive the money.

Siddesh reported the matter to the bank officials and requested them to take action. But the bank officials were indifferent.

Saddened by this, Siddesh filed a case in the Dharwad District Consumer Court. The investigation confirmed the irresponsibility of the bank officials.

Hence from 28th November 2020, 500 rupees should be returned to the petitioner with 8 percent interest till now.

25,000 rupees for causing emotional distress to the customer by not performing the duty properly; Yesterday, the court ordered the bank to pay a total of Rs 1 lakh 2,700 compensation to the petitioner within 30 days, including Rs 10,000 as litigation expenses.
