A fire broke out in the gunpowder shop on the territory of the Elastic synthetic fiber plant in the Ryazan region. According to the Ministry of Health, 16 people died, one victim with severe burns is in serious condition. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that open burning on an area of 160 sq. m managed to stop. According to media reports, the fire occurred on the territory of Razryad LLC.
“According to preliminary data at 11:30 Moscow time, 16 people died as a result of the incident. Currently, a medical evacuation of the victim in the incident in the Ryazan region to the regional hospital is underway. He has burns of 80% of the skin surface, the condition is assessed as serious, ”said the Assistant Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Alexei Kuznetsov (quoted by TASS).
On behalf of the governor of the Ryazan region, Nikolai Lyubimov, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Filippov left for the scene, the press service of the regional government reports. “The area of the fire is being established. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the acting head of the department, Alexander Chupriyan, is flying to the Ryazan region to coordinate actions to eliminate the emergency.
According to TASS and RIA Novosti, the fire occurred on the territory of Razryad LLC. The company is engaged in the disposal of ammunition and their components, the production and storage of industrial explosives, as well as the transportation of hazardous production facilities.
The prosecutor of the Ryazan region organized an inspection on the fact of a fire in the workshop for the production of explosives, according to the department’s website. The Investigation Department of the ICR in the Ryazan Region opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence). On behalf of the chairman of the TFR, Alexander Bastrykin, experienced criminologists from the central office of the department were sent to the region.
