A fire occurred at dawn today in a rural house in the Chinese province of Guizhou (center) caused the death nine people and injured two othersstate television CCTV reported.
The fire started at 1:02 a.m. local time (1702 GMT Thursday) at a rural accommodation in Zhaoxing town, Liping county, according to local authorities. Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire at around 1:35 a.m. (1735 GMT).
The affected building was a mixed brick and concrete structure and had an area of about 240 square meters, according to CCTV. The two injured people were taken to hospital for medical treatment and authorities are investigating the causes of the fire.
The town is a popular tourist destination in the province for the traditional architecture, visible in its old wooden buildings.
