On the third weekend of July 2024, the Dunakeszi Program office welcomed jazz-loving residents with five fantastic concerts, IV. King Béla at the Jam Jazz Festival on the main square. The weather was also kind to the visitors from Dunakes and surrounding settlements. A pleasant wind blew, the summer heat subsided a little. The bubbling fountain in the background provided a cooling experience for the children running around freely.
The main square is a worthy venue for the series of events, now being organized for the eighth time. The festival was opened on Saturday, July 20, by municipal representative Krisztián Pethő, who jokingly hinted that even Brad Pitt, who is filming nearby, or one of the Formula 1 drivers may appear in the audience. Of course, everyone understood the joke, but the ladies were secretly hoping that they would actually see the handsome actor. After the welcome, Myrtill and Swinguistique, then Péter Sárik Trió and Falusi Mariann impressed the audience with their performances.
The first day of the festival ended with a concert by Zsuzsi Kollányi. The well-known and lesser-known tunes heard during the evening brought nostalgic tears to the eyes of many. Others danced to the rhythmic, catchy tunes. At the end of the concerts, the people who sat next to each other as strangers on the white couches said goodbye to each other as acquaintances, and agreed that whoever arrives earlier on Sunday will also reserve a seat for the other. So it was.
The Sunday afternoon program began with a concert by the Voga Viki Quartet, and then continued with a ferocious show by the Pély Barna Band. The jazz-loving audience welcomed Andrea Szulák, who performed as a guest, with huge applause, who was able to enhance the already frenetic atmosphere with his usual humor and fantastic performance. Barna Pély made the audience sing several times, his virtuoso guitar playing, and the band members’ “jamming”, i.e. “joyful music”, made everyone applaud. The concert ended with United’s old hit Keserű Méz, which Barna and Andrea sang together with the audience for an almost endless time. Nobody wanted to stop, but the festival, unfortunately, came to an end. Never mind, Jam Jazz again in a year!
