A fluctuating and somewhat divergent movement of the prices of various cereals on world exchanges was observed during the week, report the experts of the Sofia Stock Exchange (SSE).

The FOB (Free On Board) price of bread wheat in Chicago edged up a dollar to $217 a tonne for August delivery. In France, the price rose by 6 euros to 220 euros per ton, in Ukraine there was no movement and quotations remained at 220 dollars per ton, and in Russia it decreased by 3 dollars to 217 dollars per ton, BTA reports.

In the US, the price of corn is higher by 5 dollars to 191 dollars per ton, in France by 2 euros to 215 euros per ton, in Ukraine – by 10 dollars to 200 dollars per ton.

Barley in Ukraine remained unchanged at $180 per ton for July-August delivery, and rapeseed on the Euronext exchange for August delivery fell by €14.75 to €472.50 per ton.

Crude sunflower oil contracts on the Rotterdam Stock Exchange for July delivery this week fell $70 to $1,005 a tonne. Refined sugar fell $14.10 for August delivery to $531.40 a tonne on the London exchange.

At the Sofia Commodity Exchange, trade in grain goods remained calm during the week, the exchange’s experts also report. Bread wheat was available in large quantities at BGN 388 per ton with delivery to buyer (DAP delivery). After deals were concluded at the beginning of the month for fodder wheat at a price of BGN 400 per ton, delivered locally, now the demand continues at BGN 340 per ton. Corn for immediate delivery is available in the range of BGN 360 to BGN 380 per ton, and oil sunflower from BGN 810 to BGN 820 per ton.

Prices of basic food items remained stable at the same level as initial prices. Oil in bottles is sold at BGN 2.20 per liter, and unrefined oil at BGN 1,750 per ton. Yellow peas continue to be offered in big bag at one ton at a starting price of BGN 1,200 per ton.

During the week, there were transactions for propane butane gas from BGN 1,040 to BGN 1,080/thousand liters at the SSB. There were sales of ferrous metal scrap at BGN 528 per ton, aluminum scrap at BGN 1,400 per ton and lead scrap at BGN 950 per ton.
