The grand opening of a football competition among representatives of sports media took place.
According to İdman.biz, the competition, organized jointly by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, AFFA and the Public Association of Sports Journalists of Azerbaijan, will be held at the Baku Olympic Stadium.
The opening ceremony was attended by the head of the sports department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Elnur Mamedov, and the Secretary General of AFFA, Sarkhan Hajiyev.
The National Anthem was played before the event.
Opening the ceremony with an opening speech, E. Mamedov emphasized that the sports week has already begun:
“Our first event is a football tournament. March 5 is celebrated in our country as the Day of Physical Culture and Sports. Similar events will be organized not only in Baku, but also in our regions. Speaking about football, it is necessary to note the victory of our “Karabakh”. Representatives “Our media shared countless news about this victory. The role of sports journalists in the implementation of the state’s sports policy is great.”
The AFFA Secretary General congratulated the participants on the occasion of March 5 – the Day of Physical Culture and Sports:
“We wish each of you success in this competition. You always cover our sport, and now we will do it. When you think about football, the first thing that comes to mind is Qarabag. The representative of Agdam already creates history in every game. Although he will face a strong opponent in the 1/8 finals, this is not bad for us. I wish each team good luck. May the best man win.”
The tournament, which takes place as part of the “Sports Week” on the occasion of March 5 – Physical Education and Sports Day, is attended by 6 teams.
After the official speeches, the football tournament was declared open.
