The old Canfranc station on the Franco-Spanish border, which has remained disused since the 1970s, has been transformed into a large 5-star hotel. Perched at an altitude of 1,200 meters in the Pyrenees, the building, which was for a long time the second largest station in Europe, is impressive with its 240 meters long and 365 windows.
The building is nicknamed the Titanic of the Pyrenees
AT Inside, the decoration is inspired by the 1920s with a modernist style. The inspiration comes directly from Canfranc’s spirit of war. AT upstairs, the former railway workers’ premises have been transformed into luxury bedrooms, the old station windows have been recycled into frames. It is even possible today to visit it to learn a little more about its history. The building, nicknamed the Titanic of the Pyrenees, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2028.
