MADRID, 25 (EUROPA PRESS)

A freighter has been stranded in the Suez Canal, Egypt, in an incident that has not caused any interruptions in traffic on this seaway because it has been refloated in a short period of time.

The ship, named Xin Hai Tong 23, ran aground around 04:00 am (local time), leaving behind at least four vessels in the convoy.

The Suez Canal tugboats have managed to refloat the vessel around 07:40 am (local time), as reported on Thursday by the service contractor Leth Agencies.

In 2021, another cargo ship, the ‘Ever Given’, blocked the canal for six days after running aground during a storm, causing complications that spilled over into global trade.
