Now that halftime has arrived, which intersperses cold and heat, it is when a smart thermostat makes more sense. Thanks to this device, the user can optimize heating only when necessary, enabling remote temperature management. That is precisely what the Tado smart thermostata minimalist device that stands out for its great functional power.

If you already have an air conditioning system in your home and would like to automatize it, Tado may be a good option to do so. Either remotely through the application or using its functionalities of IA.

The first thing to consider is the boiler installation and compatibilitywhich can be checked on the company’s website.

If the boiler is compatible, our recommendation, unless you are an accomplished handyman, is to request the service of an official installer, since it is necessary to open the boiler and uninstall the old thermostat. Depending on the model of the boiler, just to open it some specialized tool may be necessary.

The installation, a mess

Although the app has a guide system for installation, it is not that easy to follow as the diagrams can be a bit generic. Above all, for safety reasons, it is better not to disassemble the boiler if we are not sure what we are doing.

The version we have installed, the wired smart thermostat starter kit V3 +is made up of three devices: a bridge, which connects to the internet via an ethernet cable, a wireless device that controls the boiler plugged into 220v, and a wireless thermostat.

They all have to be within a relatively close distance to connect, which is something to keep in mind. The thermostat, which runs on batteries, allows you to check the temperature of the room and adjust it to the desired one. The good thing is that we can take it to the room we want to use as a reference and leave it there, for example, in the coldest room.

Once we have everything installed, the application allows us control temperature through routines, manually, or using configurations as useful as geolocation. In other words, when we leave the house, the heating is turned off, and when we go to it, it is turned on again to find the house at the desired temperature.

The most interesting functionalities, apart

Depending on the phone and the settings, this last functionality can be better or worse. The smart functionalities are capable, for example, of detecting open windows, or take into account the weather forecast that affects the temperature of the house, for example, a cold day will suggest turning on the heating or a day that is expected to be hot, turn it off.

However, these Auto-Assist extras are only available for a fee. 2.99 euros per month or 24.99 euros per year, without a doubt, a negative factor to take into account. Also the energy manager, that is, the estimated heating consumption, and the cost forecast, are under Auto-Assist.

In short, the Tado thermostat is a good option to optimize heating consumption and remote temperature management. Tado’s technical service works well, and can perfectly help to solve the main problems that may arise from the installation, although, interestingly, they do not accept video calls that would greatly facilitate assistance. Even if you don’t pay for Auto-Assist, many of the advanced features, minus the power manager, are present in some way, albeit in a less proactive and more informative way.
