The Security Information Office of the Ministry of Interior of the government-designate announced the arrest of a gang formation in the city of Benghazi that recruited children and used them to carry out theft operations in the city.

The office explained that the Investigation Office in the General Directorate of Security Operations collected information and identified those involved in these crimes, by reviewing surveillance camera recordings and recently circulated video clips, which showed children stealing cars from different areas.

The office indicated that the process of arresting the gang formation began after the arrest of two brother children who stole a car on Dubai Street in the city center, and they confessed to their membership in a gang formation that recruits children in theft operations, after they were exploited by a group of drug and psychotropic substance dealers and filmed in video clips. Abusive and blackmailing them.

The office pointed out that the children were trained by a woman and sent to carry out the thefts, including her son. After completing the theft, they handed over the stolen items to the woman, who gave them their share.

The office also stated that the two suspects confessed to their involvement in about 25 cases of theft, confirming that all defendants would be brought to the Public Prosecution to take the necessary legal measures against them.
