One person died in a gas explosion in a private two-story house in Makhachkala. Four more people, including two children, were injured and were taken to hospital.
The incident was reported to the Emergencies Ministry at 15:17 local time (the same as Moscow time), the ministry’s press service said. The explosion caused a fire in a residential two-story private house at the address: st. Amet-Khan Sultan, 3a.
At 15:29, the fire was localized over an area of 120 sq. m, at 16:00 liquidated. Now rescuers are carrying out work to clear the rubble and search for victims. The cynological service has been involved in search and rescue operations. At the scene, psychologists from the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for Dagestan are working with the victims’ relatives.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Health of Dagestan, four people were hospitalized in the Republican Clinical Hospital (RCH). Another person sustained injuries incompatible with life and died.
“The doctors of the RCH burn center and the neurosurgery department are fighting for the lives of the four wounded,” the ministry said. “Among the injured there are two children – an 8-year-old boy with burns on 70% of the body surface and a 17-year-old girl with burns on 6% of the body surface. Burns 90% of the body surface was received by a woman who is in serious condition undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the Burn Center of the RCH. A man with concomitant injuries and without burns is provided with medical assistance in the neurosurgery department of the RCH ”.
As reported by “RIA Novosti” with reference to the representative of emergency services, the two-storey building, in which the gas explosion occurred, belongs to CJSC Decorative Cultures and was partially used for housing. Six families lived in it.
The Dagestan ICR department opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life or health of consumers).
