On February 24 this year, the German Sebastian Studtner improved his own world record, achieved in 2020 – 26 meters and 21, and the new record is 28 meters and 57 centimeters.
The northern beach of the Portuguese fishing village of Nazare is the site of seven of the 10 highest waves ever ridden by a human surfer. An ideal place for Sebastian Studtner to improve his own world record, achieved here again in 2020.
Studtner feels calm as he glides his board over tons of raging water.
“I realize that it is possible to surf the biggest wave in storm conditions. I realize that another dream of mine has come true and I have proven to myself that I define what is possible for me,” says Sebastian Studtner, surfer .
Studtner, 38, is known for his scientific approach to exploring the limits of the possible. His team has developed a special surface for surfing, with which he reaches a speed of 100 kilometers per hour. His ride on the wave was filmed by a new type of drone that tracks the surfer’s movements and the height of the wave.
“I am very happy when I look at the footage. I am very proud – first of all of my team who made all this possible. They are the partners who were with me on this crazy mission. I am also proud of myself that I never stopped I believe,” added Sebastian Studtner.
From now on, the measuring instruments and the comparison of the data from them have the floor. Determining precise parameters in a turbulent ocean is not an easy undertaking. Later in the year, Studtner’s new record is expected to be officially confirmed, writes BNT.
