Australian actress Laura McCulloch is missing after going on a first date in Los Angeles. McCulloch, 37, was last seen at a restaurant in Santa Monica on Friday and her family back home in Melbourne are increasingly worried.

Her sister, Claire, told 9News that Laura’s friends were alarmed when she didn’t show up after going on a first date with a man she met on Tinder or Bumble: “They haven’t heard from her and she hasn’t come to work or her yoga class,” the sister said, “Her phone is off now, I tried calling her too. I’m totally stressed and so are we all… it’s an absolute nightmare, it’s so hard not to think the worst.”

Laura moved to Los Angeles from New York and worked as a nanny between acting jobs. It’s unusual for her not to come to work, her family said. She was reported missing to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) but Claire says they won’t investigate yet. Instead the family had to hire a private investigator to help with the search. The restaurant where she sat will not release the CCTV footage until the police are involved.
