/ The Iraqi Central Boxing Federation announced on Friday that the “Iraqi Clubs Youth Championship” will be held next March, and the “Clubs Championship for the Under-23 category” will be held in April 2024.
The head of the federation, Ali Taklif, told Shafak News Agency that the youth championship will be held early next March, while the under-23 championship will be held early next April.
Taklif added, “The Federation will agree on the venue for the two tournaments in its next meeting,” indicating that “one of the Kurdistan Region’s governorates is a candidate to host them.”
He explained that “the Federation pays great attention to these two categories as they constitute the basis for forming the first national team,” noting that “the Federation has assigned the technical committee to select players at a high level in light of the results and level they provide during the tournament.”
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi Clubs Championship for Juniors was launched the day before yesterday in the city of Amara, the center of Maysan Governorate, with the participation of 124 boxers representing 31 clubs.
