A landslide in Peru kills at least five people

At least five people have dead and another ten have disappeared in a landslide occurred in the Peruvian city of Huaral, 75 kilometers away from the country’s capital, Lima. The Disaster Risk Management agency has informed the newspaper ‘La República’ about the balance of victims, also indicating that there are at least 15 homes buried.

The local authorities, who have activated a provincial emergency operations center in which the Peruvian Army has been participating, will resume rescue work, after the Andean emergency services have seen suspended his work due to the intense rainy. Likewise, they have recommended that people who live in areas declared to be in imminent danger, as well as carriers and travelers, do so “with the prudence that is required since the ravages of nature have been greatly affecting this sector.” They have also alerted, after coordination with all the public institutions involved, of the material damages of the incident, since at least one school has been buried.
