Due to a large fire, dozens of people, including children and pensioners, were evacuated from an apartment block in Haskovo.
The fire broke out at dusk in an apartment on the fifth floor. People said they heard an explosion.
A family with two children and two adults were in the home and were evacuated before the smoke made evacuation impossible.
They have been taken for examination. Several more people received medical attention for gassing.
Because of the smoke in the building, 10 people were taken out of the homes with the help of a ladder, BNT reported.
“The smoke was terrible, the flames were terrible and flames fell down to the bottom of the first floor,” says Gulche.
“It happened in seconds. As we were sitting on the bench, the woman came out of the window and shouted “help”, we looked, there was a bang. And we went to the entrance to take them out”, commented Valery Shikov.
“We heard rumblings, I open the front door and see smoke,” says Yanka Peneva.
“Due to heavy smoke in the stairwell, 10 people were evacuated from the apartments,” said Nikolay Valchev, director of OD PBZN-Haskovo.
