The Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu estimated on Friday “that a large part” of the National Rally (RN) and France Insoumise (LFI) were “proxies” (allies, relays of influence, editor’s note) of Moscow, in a interview on the LCI channel.

“Certain political groups, certain proxies might be tempted to explain to us that helping Ukraine is an escalation, that all of this is none of our business,” he declared.

“Some behave as such with rhetoric which seems to me to serve the interests of Moscow,” continued the minister, denouncing “political groups which develop a primary anti-Americanism and which end up confusing Moscow and Washington”.

Asked about these formations, he replied: “a large part of the RN without a doubt, a large part of rebellious France without a doubt”.

“The most beautiful kiss on the mouth done in Moscow”

He notably castigated the parties, in this case LFI, which had tabled amendments during the examination of the text on the military programming law (LPM) so that France would leave NATO’s integrated command.

“In the middle of the war led by Russia in Ukraine, it is the most beautiful kiss on the lips given to Moscow, the most beautiful strategic gift given to Moscow to explain that a great military power like France must get out of the ‘Nato,’ he said. “I call on everyone to be responsible, all of this is very serious.”

A Washington Post investigation in early January on the RN, accused for years of serving the propaganda of the Russian regime, affirms that this party has persistent links with Moscow with a view to weakening support for Ukraine. The RN then denounced a “cabal”.
