A law for Latina’s 100th anniversary, ‘reclamation and rationalism’ – Italy-World

(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 15 – A law to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Latina, a city named Littoria by Benito Mussolini in 1932 and a place of particular importance “for Italian rationalism, land reclamation, hospitality, intercultural dialogue and historical reflection, both nationally and internationally”. The law, published in the Official Journal, aims to finance a series of initiatives to promote “20th century Italian architectural culture, with particular attention to rationalist architecture”, establish the ‘Festival of the Cities of the Twentieth Century’, in order to promote “meetings with historians, intellectuals, artists, architects and writers, with particular attention to the involvement of new generations, in a European and international perspective on the theme of cities founded in the 1930s, with reference to both cities in Mediterranean countries and cities in the rest of the world”, enhance the symbolic places of the city and its villages. To coordinate the initiatives, the Latina 2032 Foundation, an entity of the Ministry of Culture, will be established. The law allocates a contribution of 200 thousand euros for 2024, 500 thousand euros for 2025, 600 thousand euros per year starting from 2026 to the constitution of the Foundation’s assets. For the enhancement of the symbolic places of the city, a contribution of 200 thousand euros for 2026 and 600 thousand for each of the years from 2027 to 2032 is assigned to the Foundation. (ANSA).
