A lawyer was convicted of sexually abusing his children for 14 years

A 48-year-old man was sentenced to 19 years in prison for having sexually abused his two daughters and his son in San Jorge (San Martín department). When the crimes were committed, the victims were minors.

The sentence was ordered by a multi-person court made up of judges Pablo Spekuljak (president), Sebastián Szeifert and Lisandro Aguirre, within the framework of an oral trial that ended this morning in the San Jorge courts.

The prosecutors who represented the MPA in the debate are Luciana Escobar Cello and Matías Broggi. After hearing the verdict, they indicated that “in principle we are satisfied that the court has decided to convict the victims’ father based on the criminal qualifications of the facts that we proposed.”

In turn, Escobar Cello and Broggi stated that “we will await the reasons for the ruling to know why the judges decided the way they did, fundamentally in relation to the amount of the penalty.”

Violence

The MPA officials maintained that “the illicit acts were committed between 2006 and 2020,” and specified that “at the time of the abuse, one of the daughters and the son of the convicted person were children and the other daughter was a teenager.” Meanwhile, they stated that “all the crimes took place in homes in San Jorge.”

“The 48-year-old man violated the sexual integrity of the victims in a context of domestic violence that he perpetrated,” Escobar Cello and Broggi said.

“In addition, he threatened one of his daughters to prevent her from resisting attacks involving carnal access,” they stated. In this sense, they pointed out that “the convicted person is a lawyer with significance at the local level and frequently demonstrated the alleged impunity that he had based on his contacts.”

“Given the characteristics of the abuse and the relationship between the aggressor and the victims, what happened was sufficient to generate negative consequences on the physical and psychological health of the three people violated by their father,” the prosecutors noted.

Investigation

Escobar Cello and Broggi highlighted that “the complaint that gave rise to the investigation was filed by the mother of the victims and former partner of the convicted person,” and clarified that “his teenage daughter told him what she had suffered from her father.”

“Upon finding out that the judicial process was underway, the older sister of the first victim who spoke about the crimes managed to express that in her childhood she had suffered similar situations,” MPA officials explained. “Meanwhile, she also provided information about abuse suffered by her brother and witnessed by her,” they added.

Regarding the procedures that were carried out to reconstruct what happened, Escobar Cello and Broggi pointed out that “two of the victims were interviewed on the Gesell camera while the other, now of age, gave her testimony in a traditional manner.”

Crimes

The 48-year-old man was convicted as the author of “sexual abuse with qualified carnal access (due to kinship, custody and cohabitation); qualified seriously outrageous sexual abuse (due to kinship and custody); and promotion of qualified corruption of minors (due to the age of the victim, due to violence, kinship, custody and cohabitation).”

Identity

The initials of the convicted person are JFC. His full name is not provided to protect the victims, who share a last name with him.
