The mining industry has been a leader in dual training for nearly 10 years. The first graduates of the high schools that prepare the personnel have already left school, some of them are working in enterprises, and others have continued in the universities.
Saint Ivan Rilski University of Mining and Geology is the bank for personnel, and company owners invest in halls, equipment, provide paid internship programs to train their future engineers on site.
In the last 6 years through the school of dual education in “Asarel-Medet” 111 students have passed, 28 of them are already working in the company, and others are studying higher education. And the company’s traditional summer internship program is now 20 years old. Since its launch in 2004, 716 students have participated in it.
The company’s scholarship program has awarded 144 scholarships in 25 years. “Asarel-Medet” has been with the municipality of Panagyurishte for 20 years and gives an annual Drinovo scholarship for the education of a talented local student abroad.
The internship program has been in existence for 15 years “Geotekhmin”since then 550 young people have passed through it. The group is also developing a scholarship program for engineering students from three universities – Moscow State University “St. Ivan Rilski”, UASG and the Technical University – Sofia. Over 55 scholarships have been awarded over the past 4 years.
The companies of the group – “Elatsite-Med”, “Geostroy” and “Geotrading” have long-term partnerships in dual education. It started in 2018 at the “Zlatitsa” vocational high school. From 2020, the dual education model is also supported in the “Todor Peev” PG in Etropole.
Dundee Precious Metals launched in 2023 leadership academies for managers at all levels in its enterprises and an internal program “Let’s grow together”. Participants in the leadership academies are employees performing leadership functions, divided into 3 programs according to different responsibilities and powers.
The dual training in “Mini Maritsa-east” started 8 years ago with 15 students from the vocational high school “G. S. Rakovski” in Stara Zagora. In the following academic year, the company concluded a contract with the PG “St. Ivan Rilski” in Radnevo for dual training of 25 students.
Vocational high school graduates acquire practical classes and skills under the guidance of a mentor twice a week in class XI and three times a week in class XII. At the beginning of the 2023/2024 school year, XI grade students from two vocational high schools in the region are studying in “Mini Maritsa-East”.
