The Awami League government is not giving an opportunity to express different opinions today, said the member of the BNP standing committee. Abdul Moin Khan said, some Awami League, some BNP, some other party will do it – this is how the whole world is going. We hope the government will give people a chance to express their views. Will return the right to vote.

He said these things while consoling the family members at the residence of Rabiul Islam Nayan, member secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South Juba Dal, in Moghbazar of the capital on Saturday (March 30).

Moin Khan said that the government should return the freedom of voting to the people. We want to live in a free environment. I want freedom of speech.

Stating that the country became independent for democracy, a senior leader of BNP said that the government has distanced itself from the spirit of the liberation war and established a one-party dictatorship. The whole world is saying it. Then how will we live in this country.

Urging to look at the history of the past three elections under the current government, Moin Khan said that 12 crore voters of the country rejected the elections. But the government is in power by force.

BNP is protesting to foreigners for power – Moin Khan said that the government’s allegations are not true. If BNP had depended on foreigners, it would have spent the whole year sitting in AC rooms and watching movies. But BNP is agitating on the streets, holding meetings. He marched across the country. There is no basis for the government’s complaint.

Rabiul Islam Nayan’s father Akkas Sheikh said, “My son has not been able to stay at home for 15 years today.” I can’t see my son’s face. I don’t know where it is. My son was shot twice for doing politics. The police took Nayan to the morgue thinking he was dead after being shot once. More than 250 cases have been filed against Nayan. He was remanded for more than 100 days and tortured. Fingernails have been removed. Playing BNP politics is my son’s crime.

Nayan’s mother-in-law Shirina Parveen and wife Shammi Akhtar were also present.
