The interim government’s finance and trade adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said that inflation has occurred due to the printing of an additional 60 thousand crore rupees during the previous Awami League government.
He said this to reporters after a meeting with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) delegation at the Secretariat on Monday (September 9).
The financial adviser said, why inflation? He printed money, gave 60 thousand crores. It will take us some time to reverse their impact.
The country’s inflation rate eased slightly in August, but its impact is not visible in the market; In this context, he said, it will take some time for the impact of the reduction in inflation to be felt in the market. We are taking more initiatives to keep supply running. There will be no reduction in supply. Our consumer rights will work in relation to marketing.
Salehuddin Ahmed said, UNDP will provide technical and expert support if needed in the economic sector reform. They will also work with the interim government to reform the state. The institute will provide financial and technical support to the government.
He also said that ongoing projects with UNDP will continue and they will work with the current government on more new projects in the future.
