Three lectures on recent and modern history are organized by the Department of Modern History of the Department of History and Archeology of the University of Ioannina, within the framework of the “New and Modern World: History, Folklore, Anthropology” Program.


The first lecture will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, at 6 pm, on the topic “The Greek oil industry: the unknown protagonist of post-war industrialization”. The speaker will be the postdoctoral researcher of the Institute of Mediterranean Studies of the Technology & Research Foundation, visiting professor at the Catholic University of Milan, Christos Tsakas. Leda Papastefanaki, professor of Economic and Social History at the Department of History and Archeology of the University of Ioannina, will coordinate.
The lecture will take place in a hybrid way, with a physical presence in the meeting room of the Department of Modern History (Philosophical School building, first floor) and by teleconference via ms teams. Tracking Link:

Two online lectures will follow (tracking link to be announced) on Tuesday, April 23, at 6 pm, by Maria Damilakou, assistant professor in the Department of History of the Ionian University, on the topic “Looking for farmers and artisans: the immigration policies of South American countries (1940-1960)”, and on Wednesday, May 15, also at 6 pm, by the assistant professor of British history and politics at the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France Evi Gotzaridis with the topic “The difficult task of historical biography. The narrative of the life and death of Grigorios Lambrakis”.
