All politicians lie, unfortunately this is a fact. But one congressman in America is in a league of his own. Almost every detail of George Santos’ biography or past is fiction, so go ahead, liar son of a liar – the American version.
Let’s start with the Jewish connection. Santos claimed to have Jewish roots, and that his grandparents fled Europe from the terror of the Nazis. But the truth is – he is Catholic, always has been… and not only that, three of his four grandparents were born in Brazil. And it doesn’t end there, he claimed that he studied at a prestigious college in New York, and worked at two of the leading banks on Wall Street – but this is also a fake.

He even lied about his relationship. Santos, a self-proclaimed homosexual, claimed that he had never been married, but then it was discovered – that he had previously been married, and to a woman! And there is also his criminal past: the man raised funds for a dog that had cancer. Unfortunately the dog died and Santos ran away with the money.
And the most sensational revelation, especially for a member of the conservative Republican Party: Santos previously participated in a drag contest in Brazil! Do you think he took responsibility? Think again. But luckily for Santos, all the lies were revealed after he was elected to the US Congress. He does not intend to resign – sitting firmly on the throne. And he still has two years until the next election.
Santos is not alone in the story, he is perhaps the most acute expression of the politicians’ culture of lies… The interesting question is what would make a politician caught in a lie resign, because right now it looks like a bottomless pit.
