The German newspaper Blade reported that German police arrested a Libyan citizen suspected of planning an attack on the Israeli occupation embassy in Berlin.
The newspaper quoted a spokesman for the German Public Prosecutor’s Office, claiming that the arrested person belonged to what is known as ISIS, adding that the police acted based on information from a foreign intelligence agency.
The newspaper explained that German police commandos stormed an apartment in Bernau, north of Berlin, on Saturday evening and arrested the 28-year-old Libyan citizen.
The 28-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear before a judge at the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe on Sunday, according to Bild newspaper.
According to Bild newspaper, the detainee entered Germany in November 2022 and requested asylum, but was rejected and had to leave Germany, but he remained in the city of Bernau near Berlin.
According to Russia Today, the Israeli ambassador to Berlin, Ron Prosor, thanked the German authorities through the “X” platform for ensuring the security of their embassy, according to him.
Since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the German authorities have increased their severity in confronting what is called “anti-Semitism,” and have taken positions in support of the occupying state, as some states imposed the condition of recognition of Israel on applicants for German citizenship.
In the context of its measures to support the aggression on the Gaza Strip, the German authorities recorded more than 3,200 crimes related to what is called “anti-Semitism” at the German level, according to data from the German Ministry of the Interior.
