/ The eyes of Iraqis are eagerly awaiting Doha, the Qatari capital, which will host the Asian Cup finals for national teams, after China was unable to host it in early 2023, due to precautionary measures against the repercussions of Covid-19.

Agency presents an inventory of the Iraqi scorers who scored for the national team at the beginning of each tournament in the yellow continent.

The Iraqi national team advanced five places, to occupy the sixty-third place globally and the seventh place in the Arab world, after the Spaniard Jesus Casas took over the task of training the Iraqi national team on November 6, 2022.

The Iraqi national team’s goal record during its participation in successive Asian championships throughout history witnessed goals scored by players at the beginning of each championship. The first goal was scored in Thailand in 1972 by player Emmanuel Youssef, in Yemen in 1976 by player Kazem Ali, in Iran in 1996 by player Hossam Fawzi, in Thailand in 2000 by player Qahtan Jather, in Turkmenistan in 2004 by player Hawar Al-Mulla Muhammad, in Thailand in 2007 by player Younis Mahmoud, in Iran in 2011 by player Younis Mahmoud, in Jordan in 2015 by player Yasser Qasim, and finally in Vietnam in 2019 by player Muhannad Ali.
