A major update to Gotham Knights brings a significant performance boost to PC players

by time news

Gotham Knights didn’t have a smooth launch – especially for those playing on PC – as it suffered from countless performance issues. If that is not enough, it adds to the crime as it is not the most graphically impressive game PC owners have seen, but since the launch the development studio, WB Games Montreal, has continued to fix the game with patches that come out frequently. So it seems that the last big update finally managed to improve the stability and performance that was so much expected.

The big update was released back on February 14th but now it’s back in the headlines as Gotham Knights has been re-tested by Digital Foundry, a team that tests and compares the graphical performance of different games across different platforms. The team notes that the improvement is so significant that they chose to test the game again. In their examination it was found that the game now maintains a uniform frame rate even in the open world when riding on the Batcycle. Perhaps the most significant improvement, beyond maintaining a constant frame rate, is their timing which was inconsistent and caused control issues.

On the consoles, the game also shows a more uniform rate of 30 frames per second and support for the speaker and the adaptive triggers of the PlayStation 5 controller, alongside the improvement of vibration in the various game modes, the latter also affecting Xbox Series X|S players.

In our review, we found Gotham Knights to be a fun game that tries to replicate the success of the Arkham game series, offering players on the one hand an immersive story and a combat system that will reward players who specialize in it, but a lack of variety in enemies makes the open world feel a little sparse.
