Itanagar: A Malayali soldier was also among those who died in an army helicopter crash in Arunachal Pradesh. KV Ashwin (24) died a heroic death in Kattuvalap, Cheruvathur East Room, Kasaragod. This information was conveyed to the family by army officials.

A HAL Rudra Advanced Light Helicopter crashed in Upper Siang district. Five people, including two pilots, were on board the helicopter.

The helicopter took off from Likkabali this morning and crashed near Sinking village. It was 25 km from Tooting headquarters. Due to non-availability of transportation, the rescue operation could not be expedited. There was only one suspension bridge to reach the area.

The bodies were later recovered in a joint operation by the Indian Army and Air Force. Three helicopters were used for rescue operations. It is reported that the fire was extinguished after the helicopter crashed.
