A man accused of sexual assault is acquitted due to the victim’s inconsistent testimonies

The judges of the Provincial Court of Teruel have acquitted a man accused of sexual assault by a woman after observing relevant inconsistencies in the woman’s statements. Added to these inconsistencies is the fact that in none of her statements did she specify how she came to realize the identity of the man who attacked her from behind. In the sentence handed down and regarding how the woman recognized the man who attacked her, given the circumstances in which the attack occurred, the magistrates state: “according to the complaint of Mrs. “V” (he attacked her) from behind, without the possibility of turning her head because the knife was placed on her neck in a way that prevented her from turning, and she fled from the place when she was able to get away, running scared and sobbing.
