The fire fighters from the Ashkelon station under the command of Yaniv Elbaz responded quickly upon receiving the message and on their way to the scene received an update that there was an apartment that had caught fire and there were people trapped inside the apartment.
The shift commander Yaniv Elbaz – “Upon our arrival at the scene of the incident, it became clear to us that there were definitely people trapped in the apartment. I instructed the fire fighters to concentrate an effort to save lives as a top priority. Two tenants were rescued from the apartment in serious condition and transferred to receive further medical treatment.”
The firefighters were divided into two work sections, a firefighting team and a scanning and rescue team. The fighters carried out thorough scans to rule out any additional prisoners in the apartment and the other apartments of the building.
A fire investigator from the Israel Fire and Rescue Service from the Ashkelon regional station arrived to investigate the circumstances of the fire outbreak.
