Another episode of domestic violence ended tragically with the perpetrator hanging out in his apartment and finally taking his own life.
It all started at around 4.15 in the afternoon on Ikarias Street in Glyfada.
He threatened to blow up the apartment building
The police received a report of an incident of domestic violence.
When the police forces arrived at the scene, the perpetrator barricaded himself in his apartment on the 4th floor of the apartment building.
Reports indicate that the man threatened to kill himself and blow up the apartment building with a gas cylinder.
Access to the apartment
A special negotiator was called to the scene in order to convince the man to surrender, while special forces of OPKE and EKAM were also rushed.
After the prosecutor was informed, a raid followed in the apartment where the man was found mortally wounded by a firearm.
According to information, the 27-year-old perpetrator and suicide bomber was wanted for robberies and drugs, while the authorities were looking for him since yesterday because he had caused a hit-and-run accident.
The female victim with visible signs of the attack was taken to the AT where she gave a statement.
She reportedly told the police that her husband was under the influence of drugs and when that happens he becomes violent and suicidal.

In the announcement issued by GADA regarding the episode, it states the following:
“Today at 16:05 OPKE police officers passing by, during their patrol from the street of Glyfada, they heard shouting and approached in order to carry out an inspection. There they were informed by neighbors that inside an apartment building, a man was physically assaulting a woman.
They immediately approached the apartment building, where they went up to the 4th floor and in sight of the police the man entered an apartment and locked himself, while the injured woman was taken to a safe place.
At the same time, under the coordination and guidance of the Coordinating Operations Center, other police forces, as well as an ambulance station, fire brigade and a negotiator, went to the scene.
The police forces were deployed around the perimeter, in order for a negotiation operation to take place, securing the area.
After a Prosecutor’s order and while the man was not responding, the police forces entered the apartment, where they found the man dead, with a gunshot wound.”
