A 32-year-old man died this Monday by drowning in the River Segreas it passes through the Mitjana park, while the body of another man has been found in the Serós channelalso in Lleida, the Generalitat Fire Department has reported.
The Firefighters have been alerted at 4:24 p.m. of a possible drowning at the passage of the Segre river through the Mitjana park, after eyewitnesses indicated that a man had jumped into the water from a bridge and had not come to the surface.
Three people rushed to rescue him without success, so they immediately gave the notice and the rescue device was launched, made up of eight fire departments of the Generalitat, including two units of the Special Actions Group (GRAE) and the Canine Search Group (GRCR).
The GRAE Subacuático unit has reached the scene of the events by helicopter and two divers have searched the river until at 6:37 p.m. they have located the lifeless body of the man, who had 32 years and was of Venezuelan nationality. Several patrols of the Mossos d’Esquadra moved to the place, which will be in charge of determining the circumstances of the accident.
The Firefighters have made another rescue in Lleida at noon, in this case in the Canal de Seròs, where it has been located an unidentified body in water. The notice was received shortly after 2:00 p.m. and the Mossos d’Esquadra have opened an investigation to clarify the causes of death.
