A man has been holding his child hostage since Thursday afternoon, in a house in Chiajna (Ilfov), after arguing with his wife, beating her and kicking her out of the house. A Romanian Police negotiation team is on the scene and tries to convince the man to release his little girl, as he threatens to kill his child. It is the longest negotiation in the history of the Romanian Police.

He also said that “a channel of communication has been opened” with the man holding his little girl hostage and that “the Police want an amicable solution”.

Dozens of policemen and negotiators were mobilized at the house in Chiajna, but the policemen from the special forces left at the request of the man, who allegedly had several bottles in the house. He asked the police to leave his home, threatening that otherwise he would kill his little girl and then commit suicide, according to judicial sources.

The 52-year-old man has a criminal record for drunk driving. In fact, he would have been drunk at the time he kicked his wife out of the house, after beating her.

The Ilfov Police was informed on Thursday afternoon, around 3:00 p.m., by the woman that she was physically assaulted by her husband and kicked out of the house, the Romanian Police announced on Thursday evening. The man then barricaded himself in the home, together with their 5-year-old daughter. Policemen from Ilfov, SIAS-IGPR fighters, as well as ISU crews went to the scene.

So far, the man has not made any requests to the negotiators, his only request being that the Police move away from the house.
