A suspect has barricaded himself in a New Jersey home and is holding hostages after shooting three people in a Philadelphia suburb, the Associated Press reported.

A shooting this morning in Falls Township in eastern Pennsylvania has forced the cancellation of a St. Patrick’s Day parade and the closure of a children’s amusement park. Authorities issued a curfew in the area for several hours, but it was lifted in the early afternoon.

The police reported that the suspect, a 26-year-old man who is currently homeless, knew the victims of the shooting, BTA reported.

In a statement, suburban Falls police said the shooting happened at two locations in the town. The suspect then stole a car and drove to Trenton, New Jersey, where he barricaded himself in a house with hostages.

Gov. Josh Shapiro said in social media posts that he has asked the Pennsylvania State Police to assist local law enforcement.

Police said two shopping centers were ordered to close until further notice.
