On June 18, a criminal trial was started in connection with the fact that a man who had previously come to the attention of the police, probably purchases, stores and trades firearms, their essential components, ammunition and explosives.

The police obtained information that the man sent these explosive items to buyers using parcels, thus exposing the surrounding residents to a possible health and life hazard.

On July 17, State Police officials arrived at addresses belonging to the man in Riga, Teikas and Purvciema micro-districts. 33 essential components of firearms, 150 parts of explosive devices, one flare gun, 72 shells with possible powder residue and eight detonators were found there.

The information obtained by the police shows that the man probably bought some of these items from the so-called “black diggers.” The external appearance of the removed items suggests that some of these items could be wartime heritage, however, the exact origin of the weapons will be determined in the expert examination.

On July 19, the person was recognized as a suspect and detained as a security measure.
