Omassery: A wedding attendee hanged himself while trying to jump into the auditorium’s service lift. Kanjiraparampil Dasan (53) died in Koodatai Chakkikav Pura. The accident took place at the auditorium in Koodatai around 1 pm on Sunday. He had come to attend a neighbor’s wedding.
He was going to the upper floor with the food needed for the meal, and while trying to jump in the lift, he slipped and got his head stuck between the nearby iron wire and chain. Meanwhile, the lift had begun to rise. A tall man quickly lowered the lift. Dasan, who was seriously injured, was taken to a private hospital in Omassery and later to Govt. Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode, but could not be saved. The service lift, which is used to carry food items in the auditorium, does not have the safety features of other lifts. The Kodanchery police registered a case of unnatural death in the incident.
