The police seized part of the stolen sum of about 5,000 euros from a man suspected of robbing a gas station in Tartu and a man detained in Põltsamaa, but he managed to spend most of it, writes BNS.

According to Laura Jõgisoo, prosecutor of the Lõuna District Prosecutor’s Office, the police found an air gun used in the robbery during the arrest. “A small part of the money was also seized, according to the suspicion, the rest of the money was spent. However, in the event of a guilty verdict, the money received during the robbery will be awarded to the injured party and, along with serving the sentence, the suspect will have to compensate them,” Jõgisoo told BNS.

On Wednesday, at the request of the prosecutor’s office, the court gave sanctions for the man’s arrest for two months.

On Monday night in Tartu, at a gas station on Aruküla Street, a man threatened a customer service worker with a weapon-like object he took out of his pocket and ordered the safe to be opened. The gas station worker opened the safe, which contained 4,950 euros. The man grabbed the money and fled the gas station. The gas station worker was not injured.

The same man tried to rob a petrol station in Aover in Tartu County on Saturday, but was unsuccessful. There, he demanded that the safe be opened for him, threatening the customer service worker with a weapon-like object, but since the gas station worker did not know where the key was, the robber ran away.
