The man, wounded by the police during his arrest in the Novosibirsk region, died in the intensive care unit. The Interfax news agency reported this on Sunday, May 30, with reference to the press service of the regional health ministry.

The incident took place on the evening of May 28 in the Moshkovsky district on the Siberia highway. The driver of the car did not stop at the request of the traffic police officer. According to the police, the driver violated the traffic rules by installing tinted windows, specifies the online edition “Taiga.info”. Law enforcement officers began to chase the car.

After the stop, the police detained one of those in the car. The other two tried to prevent this. Then one of the law enforcement officers took out a pistol and “involuntarily pulled the trigger,” the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee’s department for the Novosibirsk region explained. The man received a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to hospital.

A criminal case was initiated under articles on abuse of office and causing grievous bodily harm through negligence.
