“It is possible that I will go to the elections with this party,” A. Mazuronis told Elta, commenting on the decision to join the parliamentarians of the Party of Lithuanian Regions working in the Seimas.

“Operating in a faction is much more efficient than operating in a Mixed group. Obviously, after the collapse of the “workers” faction, it was necessary to choose some faction. I chose this one,” he said.

However, A. Mazuronis says he has not yet decided whether he will join the party itself.

“For now, we are not talking about the possibility of joining the party, we are talking about the possibility of participating in the elections,” said the MP.

According to him, the chosen decision is rational, because while still leading the “workers” he called to join the political force led by Mr. Pinskaus.

“I have said more than once and more than twice that the Labor Party needs to unite with other parties and that the most logical option is the Party of Regions. Such a sequence would have been logical, but the Labor Party chose another, marginal path”, concluded A. Mazuronis.

V. Bukauskas: I am still in the ranks of the Labor Party

On his part, Valentinas Bukauskas, who previously temporarily headed the “Workers'” faction, who also joined the faction of the Party of Regions in the Seimas on Thursday, says that the decision to withdraw from the Labor Party has not yet been made.

“I am still in the ranks of the Labor Party. (…) There are no other solutions for today,” V. Bukauskas said to Eltai.

“When a decision is made, it will be made,” he added.

V. Bukauskas indicated that he will participate in the Seimas elections held in October. However, when asked with which party he will enter the parliament, he did not reveal.

“I have a team with whom we are talking and we will make decisions,” he did not elaborate.

On Thursday, the speaker of the parliament announced that the former chairman of the “Labour Party” A. Mazuronis and Valentinas Bukauskas, who temporarily headed the Labor faction, had joined the faction of the Lithuanian Party of Regions in the Seimas.

ELTA reminds that recently the Labor Party is facing not only law enforcement, but also political problems. After the unsuccessful presidential and European Parliament (EP) elections, A. Mazuronis resigned from the post of party chairman.

Viktoras Uspaskich, the honorary chairman of this political force, returns to lead the Labor Party. By the decision of the “workers’ council” meeting at the beginning of July, the politician was appointed as the temporary leader of the party.

Seimas members Vigilijus Jukna and Ieva Kačinskaitė-Urbonienė also made the decision to withdraw from the Labor Party a few months ago, and Viktoras Fiodorovs after the EP elections.

The Labor Party also lost its faction in the Seimas when Valdemaras Valkiūnas left it.

Faced with internal challenges and the withdrawal of members, the “workers’ council” began to consider the possibility of joining the Lithuanian Party of Regions, but in the end it was decided to participate in the upcoming Seimas elections independently and not to unite with any political forces.
