On July 5, around 10:50 p.m., a message was received via EEN 112 about a man in an inadequate condition in an apartment on “Tsar Kaloyan” street in the city of Kavarna.
It was established that the apartment was occupied by a 46-year-old man and his mother. When attempting to make contact, no one at the property answered the front door. A second signal was sent to EEN 112 at 00:10 on July 6, and it was found on the spot that the man was on the terrace of his apartment, throwing bottles, objects and burning newspapers. Again an attempt was made to make contact with him, but no one answered the front door. Around 04:45 a.m. another signal was received, and the arriving teams found the man and his mother on the balcony of the apartment. The woman was visibly worried and scared. The 46-year-old man again behaved inappropriately, threatening to jump from the terrace of the property. When an inquiry was made at the “Peter Stanchev” mental health center in the city of Dobrich, it was established that the man was diagnosed with “paranoid schizophrenia” and there was a real danger to his life and that of his mother. Teams of the fire department, the Emergency Assistance Center and teams of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications were dispatched to the scene, who managed to detain him and take him out of the apartment. He was taken to the Mental Health Center for treatment.
