Nadav Bornstein, presenter of ‘Live at Night’ on Beshet 12, reveals the battle over the cost of living in supermarket chains in Israel, with documentation of customers attacking the workers because of the shortage: “They cursed me and pushed me because there was no cornflakes on the shelf.”

Bornstein explained: “Against the background of the shortages on the shelves, the employees of the marketing chains tell me about a new phenomenon, customers who are used to buying a certain product and cannot find it and attack the employees verbally and sometimes physically. “You understand, Nadav, that the customers who are not satisfied with the shortage do not understand that this is a war on their behalf as well and come to complain to the employees On the network that we are not guilty of anything?”.

He further explained: “For them, we are the ‘bad cop’ and it happens a lot that they raise their voices at us, demand to see a manager and there was also one time when they pushed one of the ushers who said what they told us to say, that due to the increase in prices there would not be Thelma Cornflakes on the shelves soon, so one of the mothers really pushed her”.

Finally, he explained: “All the journalists say not to buy and show restraint, but that’s really not what we see on a daily basis.” So in order to curb the price increase, we need to purchase a replacement product, but also be human and not take out frustration on the employees of the chains, most of them earn minimum wage and have nothing to do with what is or isn’t on the shelf.”
