BOLZANO. He was hiding inside some makeshift tents on the banks of the Isarco river, but was then identified by police officers, arrested and taken to prison. He is a 45-year-old Nigerian citizen, with multiple criminal convictions, without a fixed abode and without a residence permit.
The man must serve a 5-month prison sentence following the final sentence issued by the Court of Bolzano for the crimes of contempt, resistance and violence against a public official and refusal to provide his personal details, facts committed in 2020.
In recent times he had been reported several times for the crimes of aggravated theft and receiving stolen goods, as well as for drug dealing, and at the end of last year he was arrested for stabbing a foreign drug addict who had broken into his bed to purchase narcotic substances. The police commissioner Paolo Sartori issued an expulsion decree against him, which will become enforceable upon his release.
“The search, identification and capture of fugitives represents one of the priorities in the operational actions of the State Police – commented Commissioner Sartori -, and is aimed at making the sentences issued by the Judicial Authority enforceable, ensuring that the subjects who refuse to respect the laws of our country, and then, once the sentence has been served, we can proceed with their removal from our country, in the event that they are illegal criminals”.
